Health Clinic

Socio-economic development and service to humanity are among the core objectives of the Bangladesh Buddhist Cultural Academy. Health clinics and community clinics are vital for bringing primary healthcare to the doorstep of marginalised people, reducing maternal and child mortality, caring for the elderly and raising awareness of disease prevention.

The Academy currently cares for 120 orphaned and destitute children, most of them from the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Next to our project area lives the Tripura ethnic community, which lags behind in education, healthcare and cultural development. We have also taken up the Acharya Pandit Shilabhadra Hostel for minority students studying at the educational institutions near the Academy.

The hospitals at the district headquarters are far from our project area, and reaching them for treatment takes time. With the need for emergency healthcare in mind, we have started a project to set up a health clinic. An ambulance is also needed to take emergency patients to the district headquarters hospital.

Any help from kind-hearted individuals or donor organisations towards healthcare for the poor, the destitute and the helpless will be gratefully accepted.
