Salban Vihara Orphanage
Food, shelter, schooling and care for 120 orphaned and destitute children.
The Salban Vihara Orphanage was established in 2021 under the Bangladesh Buddhist Cultural Academy to give education and care to underprivileged, orphaned and destitute children. It is registered with the Department of Social Services, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The orphanage is home to 120 children. Most of them are orphaned and destitute children from ethnic communities in remote, underdeveloped parts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Through the orphanage they receive food, clothing, shelter, education and medical care, funded partly by the Government of Bangladesh and partly by kind-hearted donors.
Their curriculum follows mainstream education from nursery up to class five. Alongside it, moral and religious education helps them grow into responsible citizens. There are also good facilities for sports and recreation.
